Week 4 Update & School News
Dear West Families,
Happy Friday! As a reminder, there is no school this Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. Enjoy the long weekend with your families!
We are officially into the full swing of the school year, and students are already hard at work completing quizzes and homework as we prepare for end-of-unit testing.
Many students at this age struggle with organizational skills and task initiation. One of the best ways you can support your child is by asking them about their day, looking over their work together, and routinely checking their backpack to help them stay on top of their assignments.
Important Health Notice
Unfortunately, a student at West has been diagnosed with Pertussis (whooping cough). Because Pertussis is a highly contagious bacterial infection, we ask all families to be proactive. Please review this Letter from the Health Department for important information regarding symptoms, treatment, and when to keep your student home.
Library Books
Library books are coming home! Please take a moment to look at the books your student checks out and ask them questions about what they are reading.
1st Quarter Reward: Walk to the Park (October 23rd)
Our first-quarter reward trip is scheduled for October 23rd! To qualify, students must have zero referrals, all schoolwork turned in, and meet our RRSK expectations.
Permission slips were due today. If you need to submit one late please let me know. Please note: Submitting a permission slip does not automatically guarantee attendance, as expectations must continue to be met.

- My Ride K–12 App: Track transportation and bus updates using your student’s 6-digit “Other ID” from Skyward Family Access. (Note: Students must have been registered by August 4th to receive first-day transportation).
